Re: Galaxy S7 voice to text feature missing from keyboard ?

I have the same problem as nmill023 (the picture posted is accurate). After the most recent upgrade to Android 7.0, the microphone is no longer an option in my keyboard. I am using Samsung Keyboard. The microphone icon was an option in the button next to the space bar before the upgrade.

Re: Galaxy S7 voice to text feature missing from keyboard ?

I had the same issue and found this solution was my saviour:

--> make sure the Google voice typing isn’t disabled.
Open the Settings app.
Tap General Management > Language and input > Virtual keyboard > + Manage keyboard
Make sure the Google voice typing switch is in the on position. If not, turn it on.

Re: Galaxy S7 voice to text feature missing from keyboard ?

Hi, found this fix for my Galaxy S7 Active.
Settings/General Management/Language and Input/Virtual Keyboard/Manage Keyboards-
Select Google Voice Typing
Hope this helps

Re: Galaxy S7 voice to text feature missing from keyboard ?

Thank you so much for the advice I was going through all the settings going crazy. Thought I'd have to use a third party or Google keyboard.

Re: Galaxy S7 voice to text feature missing from keyboard ?

Best solution I found was in this forum. Long hold smiley face at bottom of keyboard, second button from left and it will show a mic. Tried going through settings but now keyboard doesn't type right? It hesitates as I type then has to catch up?

This did it for me. Only took a couple days to find this answer...lol

Disabling the google app will also remove speech functions from google maps, samsung keyboard, and google IME.

Thank you! Fixed it! I relate to everyone else. It was stressing me out

Re: Galaxy S7 voice to text feature missing from keyboard ?

I restored the missing microphone icon on my Samsung phone by using the Reset Settings button on the keyboard menu. The menu path is:

Settings/General Management/Language and Input/Virtual Keyboard/Samsung Keyboard/Reset Settings

Re: Galaxy S7 voice to text feature missing from keyboard ?

Can't find the Mic to speak while texting instead of typing.

1) enable Google app, with at minimum the microphone permission
2) go to Settings>General Management>Language & Input>On Screen Keyboard>Manage Keyboards>Google Voice Typing="on"
