Re-rooting after ICS update

Didn't find anything when I searched regarding this.

Had been running just fine with my D4 rooted. Was pleasantly suprised how easy it was to root.

Then ICS update happened.

I did not un-root before the update. Mainly because I didn't know I was getting it :-[

Now I'm running ICS and still have a superuser icon in my applications that doesn't do anything. Do I need to unroot it or remove that superuser somehow? Or can I just re-root as it stands?

I have the same question cause I TOO am somewhat of a root amateur, speshally considering dat da D4 is my FIRST smartphone.

I too am having this same issue, Ive done factory reset. However I think Im having an issue with my SU files and the directories leading to them. It would seem the device itself is rooted, but I dont have access to the privileges of such. Also cmd told me the directories already exist (xbin/su , bin/su). I tried to delete them in order to make completely new files/directories, but I get an error message and am not allowed to delete them. I am at a loss.

Problem solved, it un-roots and re-roots automatically, no needing of manual cmd commands or moving anything around etc etc.

Hey everyone. I had this issue after the update. I had actually un-rooted mine b/c i couldn't get the update to install. I used the original motofail for windows root file and tried to reroot. It didn't install superuser, so I manually put the superuser.apk file on my device from my computer using the usb and then installed from the file location using es file explorer. I knew my phone was rooted b/c I could see the root in file explorer. However, the su/bin were not right in superuser, so when I went to titanium backup (a free app you can download) it said your phone is rooted but the su/bin directories are wrong and can cause problems. Titanium backup can usually fix this ...blah blah do you want to proceed. I did it and now my phone is rooted and everything works perfectly! This is probably not the easiest option or maybe the best, but it works. I searched everywhere online to try to reroot at first and there were no postings to help. give it a whirl...
