Really weird

Something really weird happened to my phone last night. It was on the wireless charger and when I woke up it was completely dead. The charging light was on when I saw it. It says my screen was on for hours. But I know it wasn't.

How do you know that the screen wasn't on?

Well one because I woke up around 1230, used the phone, and set it back on the charger and watched it go into sleep, and 2 because its set to go to sleep after 30 seconds of inactivity.

I guess potentially it could have turned on for some reason while I was asleep but why would it turn on and stay on for several hours??
