Reason for the delay?

when did i say i was upset? im not upset at all! please take the time to read the thread before responding! someone stoic decided to excuse the GNEX delays by defending VZWs practice of "thouroughly testing their devices before release" i simply stated that is laughable. and it is!

They haven't set a date, they said by the end of the year. All these nexus fanatics are getting these imaginary dates set in their head to just be disappointed. This phone is a December release... bet on that.

ETA; to all the people that are saying "I'm ok with the delay if this is the cause".. you'll be ok either way b/c whenever the phone drops you'll still buy it. If you decide you're tired of Verizon thoroughly testing their phones, then go to another carrier vzw won't miss you.

You misunderstand me. I am not angry at Verizon for rumors being unsubstantiated- I am angry at Verizon for not saying a word about a phone they said they would be carrying a month ago!

LOL, yes you are right, VZW wireless is doing us a great service by thoroughly testing this phone to make sure it is of the same HIGH QUALITY as many phones before it like; the BB Storm, the Thunderbolt, and do not forget the Bionic.Your right VZW has the strictest standards and for that i am thankful for the looooooooooooooooooooooooong wait!

The sarcasm suggests you're a little upset that it's taking so long. Am I wrong?

Hmm.. I must have missed this announcement. Can you direct me to were a Verizon exec stated they would have released this a month ago?

All I know is if it was released with a bug like that, it would be a disaster. Think of all the people who would be complaining outside this forum, all the average joes. Of course ill still be buying it, just sucks that it will take a few more weeks.

Dec 8 is my birthday tho ;)

yes you are wrong! the sarcasm was intended for you. that was literally the funniest thing i have read on here in a while. you stating that it takes so long for VZW to release phones because of their rigorous testing. that is funny! why do you perceive this as anger?

all modern phones have a bug or two, such is life. even the almighty iphone4S had a major bug when released. it is no big deal. if you think that when it does finally ship it wont have any bugs........well i dont what, but something!!:p

USUALLY... sarcasm suggests someone is trying to save face. In your case though, it apparently wasn't. All I was getting at is rushing phones to the market is never good. You just said it yourself every phone is going to have a bug or two.. but two bugs is better than 20. See where I was going with my comment earlier?

ETA; no one is happy that the phone is manufactured and not in there hands... but there's more to it than just building the phone and loading up the software.

Not saying anything about any hardware/software issue is better for their shareholder worth than announcing it, I would think.

With as "big of a deal" as this phone is, I think (given the rumor is true) that this is the most likely explanation. Why release negative news that could impact their stock when they haven't committed to a release date in the first place? Again, from a business standpoint this would be smart.

Don't worry bro, I understand what you're doing, and I would possibly do the same if I wasn't so sick and tired of the rumors, "confirmations", and delay threads. It's like someone accusing me of being late delivering a product they never ordered. Then confirming it by stating they read something on the internet about me possibly having developed said product(that they never ordered).

I think you've misread his statement. He's saying that a month ago Verizon stated that they would be carrying the phone. There's been nothing on releasing it other than "later this year". And that's (one) source of the frustration. If you need that link, it's here:

Verizon Wireless Introduces The Galaxy Nexus By Samsung

Most people are upset about the GN because we believe that it's not in our hands due to Verizon not wanting to detract attention form their Bloat filled Razr and Resound. Yes it's an assumption, and yes we could be wrong, but the only people that would think that Verizon is doing this to fix some invented bug problem, are the same people that think congress does a good job managing the money we pay in taxes.

I've been reading post after post week after week about the frustration we all have with the lack of information from Verizon about a release date.
I don't believe there is a delay, or that they're going through some type of bug-fix. They have their time line of when this will come out, and it won't be a day sooner no matter how much we complain about it.

I signed up online to get the latest on the Galaxy Nexus from Verizon Wireless several weeks ago and have not recieved one e-mail, not even one telling me something I aready know about the phone...not one.

Now I see our neighbors to the north actually have a date, Dec. 8th, when they're getting the GN on Bell.
Come on Verizon! throw us a bone, and just give us a date already. Even if it's not until Jan. 1st.(not cool), at least we have a date.

I just hope they're not holding this until after the Bionic2 comes out.;)

You know, if Verizon would just come out and SAY THAT, I think we would all be fine with the delay.

Why would they? That would be admitting that there was a problem with their product. That's egg on their face, egg on Samsung's face, and egg on Google's face. Instead they can just keep quiet about it because they've never announced a release date for the phone.

Yes, all of us who have been waiting for the Nexus will be irate. But we're a drop in the bucket. Most Verizon customers don't know anything about the phone, other than it will be coming sometime (if that much).
