Reboot system safe?

Hi all,

Let me dry my tears before I start.

Ok.

Last night I was happily playing on my Samsung tablet (10.1, 2014 Edition). I did not power off before putting it aside for the night. The next morning, I hit the 'Home' button as I usually would. To my dismay, nothing happened. Black screen (as if powered off). I hit the Power button, thinking maybe the battery drained (even though I went to bed with 99%) but nothing happened. I plugged the charger in. Nothing happened!

Panicked, I did the last thing I should have done. I went online and followed the first set of instructions I found.

I did the whole POWER/VOLUME thing and now apparently I am in hard-reset mode. Poor android robot found dead with dodgy red triangle hovering above his tummy. That can only be a bad sign.

There are some options there, the first one being 'Reboot System Now'.

1) Should I choose that one? Would it wipe out all my data?
2) Should I choose 'Wipe cache partition' instead as I read that that is slightly more harmless than a whole factory reset.

My goal here is of course to keep my data and get my tablet working the way it was before.

I am not sure whether this is related but last night was also when I bought the Slingplayer app. Do you think this is what could have caused my tablet to go into a coma?

Selecting the reboot option is just like turning your device on and off again. Basically, a restart. All of your data should be intact if you select this option

I have wiped my cache partition before, and it does not harm the device. It may even speed it up, and no personal data is lost. It is supposed to clean up some stuff not available while the device is in normal running mode.

Just make sure that you do not select factory reset by accident. The other two options should be fine, but I recommend you simply reboot.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Found the courage to go ahead and everything went smoothly! Your reply was the best news ever that day. I now have my tablet back. Would buy you a drink if I could so I'd just thank you for now! :)

what happens if i select factory reset??
You start with a clean slate. All data and downloaded apps are wiped as are all accounts, emails and messages. Apps that you paid for will still be available for download for free.
