Receiving some duplicate texts days after they are sent.

Hey there, new to the forums here. A little while ago I've noticed some strange behavior with my phone. In more than one case a friend will send me a text, but I will not see it until a couple days later. Not only that but when I do receive the message it is sent to me many times throughout the day. Sometimes I only get the message a few times, but other times I'll get have the same message sent to me dozens of times. This isn't with all messages though. I'm still able to send and receive texts normally but I still get this problem with a few texts. My phone is an lg g3, and my service provider is AT&T. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I admittedly have done nothing to solve this problem myself yet, I was hoping that there could be a way for me to fix this myself before contacting AT&T.
