Recent app drawer is blank on my Moto G4

I am using Moto G4 plus. Off late none of my Apps appear in the recent Apps drawer. It is as blank as in a factory reset model. This making switching between Apps impossible. I am not sure as to what triggered it as this was not always the case. Is their some way of restoring the recent app drawer on my phone without factory reset?

Welcome to the forums. There a few reports about this problem. It seems related to Google Now or OK Google.
