I have a Fascinate and and am happy with it but, it's really the only one I've played with much (considered an X when I bought mine). He's up for renewal on his Verizon account and this will be his first smart phone. I sent him a comparison of the Fascinate with the Inc2, Thunderbolt, and Continuum, and I can read the specs, but I don't really know if one really shines or if one or more are proving to be dogs.

Any recommendations? I'm happy with my Fascinate, but wondered if there's one you folks think another Verizon phone is decidedly better.

You do know that posting this in the Fascinate forum is going to lead mostly to one answer, right? That being said, after using an X, the original Inc, and the Fascinate, I would choose the Fascinate hands down. I haven't used the Thunderbolt or Inc2 yet though...

I think the best thing for him to do its play with each of the phones. I have had both aDInc and the Fascinate and have a D2, Charge, and LG Ally in the family. They are all good phones, although I don't care for the Ally screen or the D2. The keyboard on the Ally is great. I have also found that I don't care for the physical keys on the Charge or the DX2.

Those are my likes...but as they say,YMMV.

If it were me, I would suggest the Charge. Super AMOLED + screen technology and getting locked in to unlimited 4G would be nice...

Stick with the 4G devices: Charge, Thunderbolt and LG Revolution. Tell him to hold them and mess around with them as much as possible.

My choice would be the Samsung Droid Charge, for the Super AMOLED + screen, it's a Droid (better support, most likely, from Samsung and Verizon than other Samsung phones in the past). More memory, bigger battery. Plus, I like that it is thinner and weighs less than the other two but has the same size screen. Heck, I'm talking myself into getting one!

As much as it pains me to say this, avoid the Samsung Continuum. I had one, loved it at first, but got rid of it after a couple months of nothing but problems. And it is still running 2.1 (unless you root).

... or wait for the Function

.. but having a Sammy screen and the Droid name/support + LTE is tempting (talking me into it). Like they were saying on This is My Next there's always "something" keeping each phone from being perfect. It just lacks the dual core - if they don't "game" then it's probably a great choice. And they can try it for 30 days and return if it doesn't wow them.

yea i would steer him away from the fascinate unless he likes to tinker and willing to root it, if so we both know its a great phone. The Charge has an amazing screen and of course 4g, thunderbolt has alot of issues( random reboots and of course the crappy battery) and the LG is binged out and in the unboxings that I have seen the screen is not very good. the Incredible 2 has a locked bootloader, an older version of Android( will be upgraded) and the older version of HTC Sense. So if he has to have a phone now the Charge would be my pick but if he can wait the Galaxy S 2 is on the horizon!

Charge = $300
Fascinate = $0 at Best Buy

This is why I went with the Fascinate. I may kick myself later, but so far I like my Fascinate. I owned the Dinc2 for a couple of days and did not think it was worth the $200 price tag. There are also some questions surrounding the reception on the Dinc2.

I know this may be a pain in the buttk, but this is what I am gonna do when I am up for my NE2. There is a grace period to take the phone back when you buy it.

Do the research and pick 3, the ngo and buy the one you like the least. Try it for the grace period, read the forum on here about it, learn some of the tricks.

Take it back and get the next, wash rinse repeat.

At the end of the 21 days a decision should be kinda easy....

The price of the phone is negligible when you figure the total price of contract -

Phone 200-300

Contract $50 or more for mi utes + 30 for data per month - about $1920 over 2 years - get the best phone you can to leverage that payment. The fascinate is a great device. I love mine, but it is a generation old now- where will it be in 2 years?

Also, amazon wireless is having a big sale on vzw phones until the 8th - could save yourself upwards or 100 bucks and still get the newest thing going.

As for me I want a galaxy s 2 device so I must wait until july
