Re: Recomend me a phone

I'd go for the Pixel 2 XL, but it certainly isn't the cheap option. You might consider a refurbished 1st generation Pixel XL, which is still an excellent phone with a great camera. Since it's a Pixel, you know it'll continue getting monthly security updates from Google until Oct 2019. It supposedly will stop getting Android version upgrades in Oct 2018, but that means it should still get Android P. There's no SD card slot, but you get unlimited photo storage in Google Photos at original quality, and if you really need the local storage, you can always look for the 128 GB version.

Re: Recomend me a phone

Following the above advice...I'd recommend a 1st Gen Pixel or even a Mate 9 (my DD).

May as well get something newer. The Galaxy S9+ and Huawei P20 Pro are great options

I played with the P20 Pro at its launch and it is incredibly well sized and that Camera has set a whole new benchmark in the industry.

Both look good p20 pro little bit cheaper aswell i keep looking at reviews and changing my mind i was dead set on a samsung then dead set on a xz2 now out of nowhere the lg keeps poping up ?????? so hard to choose

Re: Recomend me a phone

I would go for P20 Pro, it just ticks most of the boxes, otherwise Pixel XL2 is a great alternative as it has timely software support, and unbeatable software user experience, well it's google after all.

Side note, if battery life is the most important thing to you, then the P20 Pro should easily be the choice, as the Mate 10 Pro has the best battery life, it even bested mine Mate 9, which already has amazing battery life.

Two votes for p20 now and two for th pixel 2 p20 seems the better choice out of those being cheaper option and newer are the huawei’s supported well ?

Re: Recomend me a phone

Well it would depend entirely on what you're looking for. You could check out a Nokia 8. Closest thing to a Pixel 2 you can get without spending for one. I'm usinh an S9 and I'm finding it to be a great phone.

Re: Recomend me a phone

I can get the p20 pro for £50 upfront and £43 a month on my upgrade through vodafone is that good or not that great ?

Re: Recomend me a phone

Sure. It'll get security updates regularly for another 18 months, which is probably more than you'll get with most other flagship phones today. Great camera and unlimited Google Photos storage at original quality is really important for me. I also don't like to deal with manufacturer or carrier bloatware, which the Pixel avoids completely.

Re: Recomend me a phone

I see you are a relatively new user - welcome to Android Central! I too would recommend the Pixel 2 XL; especially since Google has a good warranty plan on their devices. I'd also recommend the V30. Both phones are devices that will stand up to long-term use and have great specs (great software, good battery life, water resistance, AOD; and the V30 has a headphone jack if that is something you absolutely need).

Please keep us posted on what your decision turns out to be!

Thanks man came on here to try find a phone .... but here we are still the pixel would be great but i cant understand why its still so expensive compared to the likes of samsung and the p20 pro its older and has lesser specs i know the camara is sposed to be one of the best but so are the other two and the v30 does look very interesting proper little underdog anyone tell me the best feeling phone like i orderd a s7 before and sent it back as it was too light and felt cheap i think the s9 may be a bit diferent now though

It's true that the prices of the Pixel 2 line are a bit hard to stomach; especially since Google targeted their Nexus line at a way more affordable price point. However, Google attaches a premium price tag to their phones as they market them as "pure Android" and I think there is a bit of prestige to that label. Or nostalgia, if you had a Nexus phone... I for one know that, for myself, it's a lot of nostalgia to buy a phone that is the closest I'd get to a Nexus and a Nexus experience, so to speak (though other manufacturers like Nokia and OnePlus are also pretty close to stock as well).

Anyway, I digress. The V30 is definitely the underdog and a very underrated yet powerful phone. I have a good friend who has one and I've held it in the hand - it's great! It's a superb phone. It feels good in the hand, has a great screen, and good battery life.

It's tough to choose a phone nowadays - we have so many - almost too many - options, which makes things all the more complicated. So I can definitely understand your hesitation or lingering on this decision. My advice to you is to not wait too long to make a decision. I've been trying to decide on a new phone since Christmas and it has been difficult to stick to a choice! Once you make a choice - or have it down to two choices, at least - go down to a store and test them out! Then go from there. :)

Fair enough iv never owned an android phone or at least one i havent sent back s7and the s8 lol iv been on iphones for 4 years now and before that was on a lumia so its hard to really know if id go for the “stock android” or not or if it makes a difference to me probabaly not its all going to be new and ye i was up for upgrade two months ago and then you start waiting on things coming out i was dead set on a xz2 went in the shop it felt great nice heavy premium feel but i canceld my order as id started looking into the p20 witch tbh looking at a few camara comparisons there not that far apart il get there one day v30 looks premium but is it light and plasticy feeling ?

I see what you're saying! Any of the phones you're looking at would be great options, in my opinion! As far as the V30 feeling plastic-y or not premium - I've held it but it was in a case; however, the back is glass and so I've heard it feels really good in the hand if one goes the "without a case" route.

As far as a wide angle camera lens or feature is concerned, I'm pretty sure the V30 has it but I don't think it's the only one that does. The Pixel 2 is supposed to have a great camera and video experience - I've seen my friend capture videos on his Pixel 2 XL and they're really good. However, the V30 is known for its media/video/camera experience so if you're really invested in those types of features (and if you want a headphone jack), I'd consider the V30.
