Recommended App Switchers/Multitask?

I'm not very fond of the long home-press method. It takes too long, doesn't show me which apps are actually open, and it's ugly.

I was wondering if any one has some recommendations for a multitasking substitute? I like how iOS and webOS handle their switching. Are there any equivalents on Android, or perhaps is there something better?

If you're not averse to installing a custom launcher, Go Launcher EX has a nice app drawer that adds more functionality. It will show you all apps, recently used apps, and currently running aps.

Here's some screenshots.

I just use the built-in one, but WaveLauncher is pretty cute. Its basically a webOS type of wave to access programs from anywhere.

I use the app smart taskbar... and it is pretty much the bomb. you set a trigger point (either visible or invisible) on the side of your screen, which can be pressed from within any app. you press the trigger point, and pull out a menu of all of your apps. it also has a tab of running apps, as well as a dock at the top where you can put your most used apps. I think there is more customizations available, but that's all I use.... I highly recommend it!!
