Wow. Although it's important to remember that's sales to phone companies. It doesn't tell us anything about retail sales. It reflects what the carriers expect to sell, but isn't a guarantee of those sales.

They are comparing S4 phones shipped to S3 phones shipped over the same time period. We know how many of those S3s were sold so I'd say counting those shipped S4s as sold phones is a pretty safe bet.

Agreed: "pretty safe." But not guaranteed. Companies have been know to make very bad sales projections on occasion.

You are right, when it comes to sales nothing is guaranteed. But I think these phones have been sold to the phone companies. I wonder if Samsung does or could be forced to buy back unsold phones.

Shipped not sold. There is a major difference. Samsung never provides sold numbers or breaks out smartphone revenue.
