Hi,

This topic has been covered numerous times but I may have a slight twist and that's why I'm posting.

I have a note 5 from at&t and someone was able to get access and delete some very important texts. Unfortunately I can't seem to root the phone in order for recovery apps to dip deeper and attempt to recover them. Research leads me to believe rooting is not possible at this time.

When I went to the AT&T store they told me I didn't have auto back up turned on and they can't help but they turned it on at that time and my phone proceeded to restore every text I've sent except the deleted ones i need.

My biggest question is how can I recover these deleted texts. Second, why did old texts get restored when I never had auto back up turned out but the ones in question did not. Seems odd.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I can't answer accurately why older texts restored, it's likely they were in a temporary folder. In relation to the missing ones I'm afraid you are unlikely to recover those. If they are very important forensic recovery may be possible but that is likely to be expensive

Thanks for the response.

Why can't this phone be rooted while others can? Is this an at&t or samsung thing?

It's AT&T, they not Samsung send out the updates and as a result there are no files anywhere to "play" with
