Android Central Question

Hi folks,

Chrome suddenly crashed on me a couple of days ago with about 20 Incognito tabs open that I wish I could somehow recover. I'd usually have given up on this, but the swipedown notification for closing my Incognito tabs is teasingly still there, and Settings tells me there's a sizeable chunk of data (311 MB) still in Chrome's cache (I'm not sure whether this refers to the volatile memory that Incognito sessions are stored in).

Reopening Chrome in an almost identical situation in the past led to it starting up again with only my normal tabs intact, so before I do so again I'd love to know if there's any way to use what remains of my previous session to indirectly reconstruct anything of my lost tabs (I've since used my phone minimally in the slim hope something does remain preserved). I *have* observed that switching back to Chrome after prolonged use of other apps occasionally causes it to reload Incognito sessions from scratch, giving me hope that a snapshot is fleetingly kept somewhere. Just over a month's worth of browsing's at stake, so any advice would mean a lot to me - even knowing for sure that it's impossible would be some welcome closure.

The crash I describe consisted of Chrome closing itself and returning to the home screen after (I suspect) being overloaded by the combination of a big download (cancelled), a popup ad and sneaky automated background updates of other apps. Running Oreo 8.0.0 on an LG V30+, Chrome is version 70.0.3538.64.

Thanks in advance.

The concept of incognito mode is that traces of the browsing done in that mode are not kept. There is very little chance that there's a trace of the browsing session left if the tabs were closed in some way (even if it wasn't you). There's little chance of recovering that session, sorry.

I doubt background updates of other apps impacted your browser session. You can certainly disable automatic updates in the Play Store, either globally or on an app-by-app basis...
