(Could not find a Nexus S forum so giving it a try here. If there is a better place to post this question please point me to the right place.)

My son just rooted his Nexus S. He is able to install clockworks recovery using fastboot and can reboot into it but few minutes later, when he tries to reboot into the recovery, it disappear and he get a error screen with a picture of an Android and an exclamation mark within a triangle.

If he reinstalls clockworks again it does work but then disappear again.

His phone is clean (after rooting) with only Rom Manager and SuperUser apps.

Any suggestion why the recovery disappears?

Thanks,

Kam

There's a Nexus S forum under "Samsung".

The Nexus S has some sort of recovery protection in it that resets the recovery when it boots (i.e. losing the custom recovery is a "feature"). See the nexus s rooting thread over at xda-developers. Basically you just have to reflash clockworkmod every time you need to use it, as your son has already discovered.

rename /etc/install-recovery.sh to /etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
That will fix you right up.

And we'll move this one to the Nexus S forums :)
