Hello;

I do not have OS in the HTC one m8. Now after pressing on power button and on the lower volume button, I see the following:

*** UNLOCKED ***
M8_UL PVT SHIP S-OFF
CID-11111111
HBOOT-3.18.0.0000
RABID-1.19.21331147A1.09G
OpenDSP-v38.2.2-00542-M8974.0311
OS-
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Aug 2 2014,01:07:42.3

And it can be shown in the attached picture.
I downloaded RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_4.16.1540.8_Radio_1.24.21331147A1.09G_20.68.4196.01_F_release_411207_signed_3.exe which size is about 1.5 GB on external memory card, but I tried to copy this file to the mobile memory to be able to run it but it does not copy although it is showing that it is copying, but after finishing, I do not find it on the mobile memory.

Maybe it is because the RUU is large size (although the mobile memory is 20873 MB which is 2 GB). But what is the alternative file that can be used?

From the other side, when I need to reboot, it says: No OS Installed! Are you sure you need to reboot? I swipe to reboot, then it gives me another message: Install SuperSU? Your device does not appear to be rooted. Install SuperSU now? This will root your device. I swiped to Install but again, I do not see any change.

And always when I reboot, it gives the same message to install supersu and the device does not appear to be root.

It seems I have to know which file to be downloaded to for SuperSU and which file to be downloaded for RUU, can someone help and direct me as I am new to HTC?

Regards
Bilal

I don't know the M8, but ...

Hello;

Make sure you have the phone plugged into the computer, not into a USB hub. Most hubs can't copy a 1.5GB file (they overheat and quit with such heavy use, then have to cool off for a few seconds - enough to kill the file transfer.)

Maybe it is because the RUU is large size (although the mobile memory is 20873 MB which is 2 GB).
It's 20GB. 20.873 to be more exact.

1) "Reboot" is the same as "restart", it's not the same as "install a new OS".

2) You'll have better luck over at the M8 forums at XDA Forums.

Thanks for your reply.

* Actually the file existed at the memory card which is inserted in the mobile. When I am copying, I am copying using the file manager and I copy from the memory card to to the mobile memory, so nothing through the USB. Although, I connect USB cable to the laptop (but really I do not know what do you mean by USB hub and if it the same as the USB cable or it is something else).

1) "Reboot" is the same as "restart", it's not the same as "install a new OS".

* I know that Reboot is same as restart, but when I am rebooting it is giving me what I mentioned in the forum (No OS Installed and it is asking me if I need to SuperSU to root the device !!

2) You'll have better luck over at the M8 forums at XDA Forums.

* Why?
