Any idea on how to attempt to fix that?
It doesn't even set it to the default oem background images, it sets two random pictures to lock and home screen.
Help appreciated

Update: Just happened also by just leaving the phone for like 20 minutes idle and attempting to re log

Any input pls

Since it gets so often recommended I'm going down the trial by error deleting the cache and data of some system apps. Also the Android library.

Have to check how it's named again. If someone could tell I'd appreciate (the service to delete app data to force a library rescan)

Or I'll just use a library rescan app from the play store for that

Before doing that, see if the problem persists in Safe Mode.

Well did it. Fingers crossed

Maybe it's some stupid memory limitation? Only got 2GB

If it happens again, see what happens if you install a different camera app.

Yea, happened again. I now just did a factory reset. To be fair I did a full version update and several other system updates with it and everything prior. . Guess the factory resets are inevitable at some point

Now I hope that it didn't just happen because of my low memory on that device

I seemed to have figured out why I have/had this bug.

Happens with the zfont app. The app offers 4 different methods for Xiaomi's MIUI's to apply new fonts, and at least one of them is causing issues

thats how they're called

I tried 'new' and the bug occurs. Reproducible. Didn't think of it first that zfont could be the issue, cause the font was installed without errors. But I had to reset my phone now twice to confirm, that zfont and the 'new' method for Xiaomi's MIUI's fail on my redmi 8a.

Not sure if I'm willing to test the others to soon. But I am sure I'll at some point. Next on the list is 'latest', followed by beta......

Nice detective work! Glad you figured out the problem, and thanks for sharing the solution.:)
