Redundancy elimination for Guest posted questions

It's a great feature Mobile Nations has launched with vBulletin, but due to the nature of various devices, the redundancy of posts that include "my x isnt working" without the mention of what device, what firmware version, or even a little more detail, makes the feature promote accidental spam.

I can get foreign users for the most part, language barriers are not under our control, but when it's the latter, where the user isn't told that certain information is needed for proper troubleshooting, that is something we can control!

If you guys could add something like "Be sure to include device name, Android version, and any other details so you can be helped better!".

I love helping people, but when helping gets tedious, it becomes bittersweet love :(
 
Perhaps they could use a template that the guest fills out that has sections for those categories, similar to forms that are submitted for online customer service.

You're preaching to the choir, who've been singing that song since 1973. I guess they don't want to, or it's on the to do list for 2019.

Other information could be included to assist Unregistered users before posting a question. That way they could be answered in 3 minutes or less!

vB is the forum software AC runs under.

As for when they will implement the change is dependent on how they'll make it consistent to every forum under Mobile Nations (that's my theory at least). Honestly though, it doesn't take a lot to edit the language strings for creating a new thread for guests so that it shows the message, but I'm not behind the back end and I truly believe that James will implement the change soon :) It's just a matter of the issue being given attention by us members!
 
Again, I fully agree--but there is one silver lining in this. It may actually encourage more people to register on the forums, because our response to questions that lack details will often be to ask more questions back to clarify, and this will hopefully spur them to join up so they can continue the conversation.
