Just moved over from Blackberry Torch, long time Blackberry user, 6 different models, finally decided to give Android phone a try. Still use an iPhone for own business but wanted either another iPhone or an Android for personal/other business use.

Blackberries still can't be beat for pure email/texting use, as well as better battery life, but for apps and other use, not many options and lacking. Will miss Blackberry Messenger also.

Not entirely new to Android as have been using a Galaxy Tab for several months, but that is different in many ways that the phone experience.

What I like so far:
1. Screen and interface
2. Integration with Google and over the air sync, BB had lots of glitches and required cable to computer to sync reliably, now Android and iPhone both sync nicely OTA together
3. Customization and Apps, not as many as iPhone, but 85% of the ones I regularly use and need
4. Camera and bar code scanning work so much faster and better than with BB

What I miss so far:
1. Message notification, LED light was nice and could customize each email account, message type with different tones and notifications
2. Blackberry Messenger, could message selected contacts without need for text plan
3. Custom Profiles for ringtones and notifications, could really customize these very specifically
4. Battery life, hoping will get better with use and customization
5. Familiar with all the tricks and tips, now I need to relearn these with new phone OS!

Will give it a couple of weeks to try and make sure it works for me better. Have about 3 weeks to kick the Crackberry habit, otherwise I can jump back on the Crackberry wagon and exchange within my 30 day window...or get a Atrix 4G

Welcome crack addict. I myself never used iPanzy/BB thank god...

Yeah I also miss the custom sound alert for each events, the default same BS in AOSP is annoying as you never know what you getting thus always have to check. They should have voice mail, email, sms, mms, alert, missed call, ect. Far as battery life goes it depends on the hardware and software, you can use efficient rom, disable service, scale mCPU, alot more.

The only thing I really, really miss from my old storm 2 is the blackberry massager. I met a lot of cool people with that.

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

Only thing I miss from my BB is BBM Groups.

I use noLED for message notifications, Quick Profile to quickly change sound profiles, Bedside to replace bedside mode from the BB clock, and Smart Keyboard to replace autotext.

Android seems to need more customization, but that in itself is a good thing - you can configure it however you want.

Welcome to the group!

just jumped over to android about a month ago.....not looking back for a second....but i agree on one thign...i loved the email and texting.....but there alot that androids can offer up more thna a BB can.....WELCOME....and ENJOY !!!!!

**dont be afraid to jump into these forums....this is prolly the best place to ask for help and get info...not too many people trolling around and causing problems like some forums....lots of great poeple here to help......

Welcome to AC. I'm on a BB right now and I won't miss BBM a bit when I get the Atrix.

Yep, welcome! Old BB head here...

I think you'll get over BBM fine in the long run... nifty service, but restrictive by definition.

BlackBerry Massager - I remember thee was an app from a couple of years ago that turned on and ran the vibration module at different speeds... to be used as a massager... :)
