Sorry if this sounds like a noob type of question, but i feel like I have been fooled by SPRINT. After the OTA update my phone was suffering some problems.....being under the 30 day mark, they said I would get a "NEW" replacement. O.k., I waited till more came in and went and recieved what I thought was a "NEW" phone only to get home with it, set-up all my stuff on this phone to find out one of the flashes is not working. So my question is, is there a way to tell if this phone is "NEW" or a refurb they are trying to pass off as "NEW". If anyone can help, please do. Thanks in advance!

Are you sure the flash isn't working? The camera won't use both unless it needs to.

I have since tried taking pics with my wifes EVO and mine in the same light and both of hers come on, only one of mine. Also installed the led light app on mine and only one, my wife has had that app since the release and both of her leds come on. I am stumped......

I often worry about sending mine in for light leakage because I don't want a refurb.

Bump.

Theres nothing wrong with refurbs.

usually with a refurb 90% of the phone is new anyways.

Not to mention in most cases its recent, and the phone is already updated and all known issues are already taken a look at or fixed.

Suppose there could be wrong with it. Take it in and have them check it out.

But a malfunctioning LED is not necessarily indicative of a refurbished unit either way. A refurbished unit is actually checked more closely for correct operation that one straight off the line.

Just was wondering if there was some sort of app or program that would tell if by some sort of settings or numbers if the phone was new or refurbished?

If it came in a retail box with all paperwork and manuals sealed up in the little bags it is new.

Here is what i found in another thread I was reading...

Type ##786# from your phone dialer to bring up some phone information. Scroll down a bit and you can find if your phone is a refurb or not. As far as the availability of refurbs go, when I went to the repair center yesterday, the guy said they have the option of ordering from 2 warehouses, one has refurbs and the other new devices. He wanted to order me a new one, but the warehouse didn't have any in stock, so he ordered me a refurb. So they do exist I guess. I'll find out today when I pick it up. If I don't like it, guess I could always hold out till they get new ones in stock. Not sure if they'll allow me to do that. Perhaps I'll get lucky and find that this so called refurb is actually a new phone! One can dream.

Thanks iduarte21, I checked it and refurb info is not available, so I guess it is new. Good looking out!
