I was wondering if there was a reliable way to record phone calls (both me, and the person on the other line) on the HTC EVO 3D.

I know recording phone calls is illegal if the other party us not aware that the call is being recorded. I am doing this for an interview and I will inform the interviewee that they are being recorded.

It is important that I have the call recorded so that I can make an accurate audio transcript for my article.

Thanks!

it is not illegal, but you could not use the recording in court.

I use the old fashion way. An old cassette recorder and a mic that looks like a suction cup. Stick it on the phone and it records both of you. Or you can connect it to your phone and the mic in in your computer. Either way, very reliable.

When I had my old phone, the only recording Apps were for rooted phones, at that time. I don't know if this is still the case.

I am not aware of any for NON rooted phones either.

The Rseven app offers call recording. You can choose to record/not record each call, or set it to record all calls. It doesn't require root access.

There's an HTC widget 'quick recorder' but haven't checked that it records both sides of a call. If your interview is a phone interview test it and if it doesn't get both sides of the call, call the person from a different phone, put them on speaker and start the quick recorder then.

The recorder does a good job and saves the file for you to be able to send (email etc).

I've been thinking I'm going to need to record a call with my landlord so he honors his word to let us out of our lease next month. LOL not expecting that it'll go to court once he hears the recording that he told us it'd be no problem.

Rseven hasn't been updated since 3/31/11. Has anyone gotten it to successfully record both sides of calls on the 3VO?

I went to the market and searched for In Call Recorder and got a page of pay for/trial and free recorders.

In terms of reliability, there are several call recording providers in the market. RecordiaPro has been around for a while - i myself am a customer. You will have to pay a small per minute fee and there is no app yet but definitely reliable and excellent quality.

You know, I've wondered about this same thing. My first Sprint phone was an LG flip style. It had the record call feature on it. That was around 2003 that I got that phone. So how hard can it be to include in the mini computer that is todays modern phone? I don't know of one but I've only briefly looked in the market.

Yes, Windows Mobile phones used to be able to record conversations too. Surely someone in the more powerful and customizeable Android world could enable this functionality for us!

You can record calls with Google Voice, just press 4 during the call and you will get a message "Your call is now being recorded" then you can listen to it from any pc or your phone.
To the Thread Author _ I guess you didn't see this post. You're looking for an application that can can record conversation. Have you you tried the ABOVE.

Yes, Google Voice works but only for INCOMING calls. Personally, I need an app or something that works for recording both incoming and outgoing phone calls. I have no interest in services like Recordiapro that charge by the minute.

I am looking for the same thing but some people have bad information about legality.

It is a state to state thing. In many states, only one party to the conversation needs to know that it is being recorded. In those states, the recording can be used for any legal purpose including court. A judge can consider that a "one person" recording can be used to ambush a person and not consider it reliable if it appears to have be incomplete.

The best results are when the kernal on the phone is enabled to allow call recording....

I'm a lawyer in Oklahoma and the legality of call recording depends upon your state. Many states allow call recording so long as at least 1 person in the conversation knows it is being recorded. This means if you know it is being recorded and the other party does not, you're still within the law. This prevents someone (Person A) from recording a conversation between 2 other people (Persons B and C) when B and C do not know the call is being recorded.

The call can be offered in court but it has to be authenticated by someone that knows the voices. This usually happens by the testimony of the person involved in the conversation that knew the call was being recorded. There are still hearsay issues but generally, recorded calls are used for impeachment (when you have to prove someone is lying).
