Reloading lots of emails every Get Mail

When I get mail, my Evo gets a minimum of 81 messages every time. It takes quite a while and uses much more battery. Any idea what is going on. It does not seem to recognize it already saw those emails. It is my AOL account. The 81 emails is a fraction of total emails in my inbox.

I also have an aol email account, and notice this too. Can I ask does this only happen to you when you read your e-mails on 4G or 3G? If I'm on WiFi I notice I don't get 2 or 3 versions of the same e-mail.

I have a Comcast e-mail account and this has happened probably 6 or 7 times since the Froyo update a while back. When I posted a question about it on the site, the only reply I got was "ditch Comcast." Not very helpful.

Anyway, I don't know the cause, but something that has worked for me is to go into a Web version of Comcast and highlight all of the messages that are considered "unread," and mark them "read." If I don't do this every month or so, my phone starts reloading them as new. Hope it helps.

I don't notice this happens any differently in 3G, 4G or Wifi, though I am most often on 3G - getting a 4G signal for me is like trying to spot Bigfoot. I do not notice getting the same email more than once in my list, but rather, it seems to need to check or download many emails it has seen before when checking mail, over and over, so takes a lot of time, every time it checks email, currently reloading or checking at least 81 emails each time, regardless if any new emails may have appeared in my inbox.
