This is what the Thunderbolt delay crap reminds me of. In October it was supposed be out before Christmas. Christmas came and went, then mid January it was supposed to be released. Then February rolls around and they decide to change the name. Finally In JUNE it gets released and no one gives a damn anymore because its June and there a Droid X coming in 1 more month. I really hope this doesn't end the same. But I'm starting to worry....

The biggest thing with BlackBerrys that I've noticed with Verizon is that Verizon seems to put more strenuous or rigorous tests and stability requirements on the operating system before declaring one official. As a current Tour owner and previous Storm owner, I always installed leaked operating systems, but it always seemed that Verizon would be the last to the game in declaring one official. In trying the leaks and seeing others (Sprint) have official releases, it was easy to see why Verizon hadn't declared certain versions official. I believe this had something to do with the delayed Tour 2 release. And I wonder if this has anything to do with the Thunderbolt.

There were three officially released OSs by VZW for the 9630 that were extremely buggy.

One of these OS completely bricked the phone with a "Tech Error: Please return to place of purchase."

Another OS caused app error 552 that soft bricked the phone.

Another OS had major bugs such as MMS sounds playing when you hung up the phone, huge email fonts, not being able to click links in the browser.

So, I disagree that VZW releases OSs that are more stable.

I currently have a 9650 and had the Tour prior to it, and I agree this reminds me exactly of that delay. Around May when Sprint announced their 9650 people on Verizon were losing it on the Crackberry forum lol.

I never had any of these problems, although I did hear about them. I can't recall if they were all from actual official releases though as Verizon didn't release many.

My main point though is not that they have more stable releases necessarily, but that they always seemed to take longer before they declared one official. For instance, there were more Sprint (and other company) releases than official Verizon ones. And if you tried any of those, you'd appreciate Verizon's more (even with the bugs).

I remember that delay and it's the reason I wound up with the Incredible. So, that delay worked out in my favor.

But, now, this one is pushing my wife closer and closer to the iphone :-\

The major bugs I mentioned were present on official released OSs from VZW, with 100% certainty. I only load official OSs on my BlackBerry.

My point is, it seems when a carrier takes longer to release something it gets scrutinized even more. Because it then becomes,"I waited so long for THIS?!"

I hope this doesn't happen with the TB. Rumors of delay saying they are fixing battery issues, Skype, LTE handoff, etc.

If it releases with major bugs after all this time ppl are going to be doubly upset.

As much as it pains me to admit it.... I'm kinda in the same boat. I'm about at my wits end with my Tour and am really looking to upgrade. If the 'bolt doesn't come out in the next couple of weeks I just may become a card-carrying Apple fanboy lol

There was never a delay with the Bold. Just a bunch of speculation lime we have here.

No, it shipped as a Tour 2 and then they decided to change the name and add memory. Sure it wasn't "officially" announced, but it was most certainly delayed.
