Remove bloatware?

I've read that people root their phones and then they are able to remove the Bloatware. My question is... will we ever be able to remove the bloat apps or am I stuck with multiple apps that I will never use? Will they have an option to remove these apps via OTA updates, or am I stuck forever with a golf game demo that I can't even play anymore? I don't want to root... but I would sure like to remove this crap.

I'm no expert and can't tell the future, but I would highly doubt that there is any kind of update or anything that would allow you to remove the bloatware (without rooting). They put that stuff on there for a reason.

They have never allowed you to remove the bloatware. It's part of they way they pay for things. Just like Google and the ads you see. Rooting is the only way..

Yeah, as others have said, I doubt that will ever happen.

Bloatware is the number one reason why I rooted my Thunderbolt.

If I had the option to remove ANY non-system app I wanted, I probably wouldn't have rooted... at least not this soon.

Bloatware is basically a fact of life with any phone now a days. Every carrier has it. I'm sure they are payed fairly well for putting it on their phones and they love making money... so, I really, REALLY doubt they will ever stop doing it.

Correct, except one phone does NOT get it and that should be standard for ALL phones. The carriers make more than enough money from their monthly charges and the contract. It's janky, its crapware and while I loath the concept of returning to that other phone if rooting becomes an impossibility in the future (could happen) then I would leave.

I think most bloatware requires root to remove. However, recently, I was able to remove CityID without root. It presented me with a question something like... "pay now or do you want to uninstall". I chose uninstall, and it did.

Can you create a folder and stuff all the junk/blootware in like on a blackberry? Then it's out of sight oput of mind

It wouldn't even be so bad if the bloat was USEFUL! For example... the Lets Golf 2 demo was a very limited use demo. I never actually got to play it. I only turned it on about 3 or 4 times to show off my new phone to friends/family and apparently in doing so used up all of my demo time. So now I have this stupid app on my phone that isn't even usable unless I pay for it. That's ridiculous. I really don't want to root my phone, but may have to look into it at some point so I can remove this crap.

If someone could make an app for the phones like PCDecrapifier, I'd pay for it no doubt. 5-10 bucks.
I don't want to root my phone. It's my work phone and it's rock solid stable.

But I can't stand all the bloat either. Blockbuster, CityID, Lets Golf, etc.

I understand why they're there. But at least on a bloated PC you can remove bloat items they come loaded with.
