Remove Sprint apps?

Hey i search the forums and could find anything that was usefull. is there anyway to remove app like sprint nascar or football and amazon mp3 store? or do i have to root it?

I think rooting is what people buy an Android for anyway if I am not mistaken. Not sure if there is even an "HomeBrew" community.

i just scarred, i wanna test my evo out before i root it. does rooting make it faster? on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is rooting i pretty good with computers. i flashed all my balckberrys all the time
