Removing message not sent notification

I have an Alcatel one touch fierce 2. Every time I open my messaging app I get a notification in my notification bar that says messages not sent. I tried to download Handcent SMS and delete from there and reboot phone no luck still getting message

Go to Settings>Apps, select the Messaging app, and Clear Cache. If that doesn't help, try Clear Data as well, although I'm not sure if this will also delete any saved messages that are important to you.
