When I rename files in my downloads folder, they don't appear in the download section of the gallery integration menu, and the old filename persists with no thumbnail..

Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so have you found a solution.

This isn't a direct answer, but how about using your file manager app to copy or move the downloaded pics to a separate directory (like the Pictures directory)? That should show up in the Gallery app.

I always find it a little risky to keep important files in the Downloads directory, because some phones have apps or features that might automatically clean out the Downloads directory intermittently, if you're not fully aware of the settings.

I do move them. But I when I collect some images, I have to I rename them before I upload them to a hosting service, and the default folder that opens in the gallery integration menu when I click to upload is the downloads folder.
Just frustrating to have to go through nearly 10 extra steps instead of just renaming them.

How are you renaming the files -- using a file manager app, or using Windows Explorer while connected via USB, or some other way?

My phone powers off every night. And yes I am using an SD card. The issue only occurs when an app other than the gallery or files app accesses this feature. It's really odd. I work around it, but it bugs me because it is the only problem I have with the phone.

See what happens if you connect the phone to your computer via USB and use Windows Explorer to change the filename. Or try a 3rd party file manager app, like Total Commander.

I have started using the recent option instead of the downloads option in the menu, seems to work. I don't want to be plugging the phone into something every time I change file names.

It might still be worth testing out a 3rd party file manager app, in case this is a quirk of the stock file manager. The one I mentioned above is free and ad-free.
