Android Central Question

So I never put a case on my s8+ because I never drop it. Welp...... It fell off my bed hit my metal chair and cracked 🤦🏿*♀️. I have another s8+ that back cracked (not my fault) and I didnt notice and went to record a under water video. The phone died. I took the phone to a repair shop and they said the the internals were water damaged of course and it wouldn't work. I was curious if I could put the water damaged phones screen on the working phone with a cracked screen. I know its probably unlikely but wonder if anybody has had success with this.

I'm not sure how the S8 is put together but since the water damaged phone is basically junk, here's what I would do;

Disassemble the water damaged phone, to be sure you can get the screen out without damage. I have an HTC U12+ and this would be virtually impossible due to the way they glue the screen in, so you'll need to be sure screen removal without damage is possible before digging into your working but cracked phone.

After successfully removing the screen you can remove the back of the other phone and should without much digging be able to access the plug-ins for the screen. This may be a little awkward since the connections will have to be flipped in an unusual orientation but I would try to plug it in and turn it on to be sure the screen works.

I don't see what water would do to a screen because they usually have no electronics of their own and are sealed to keep the L of their LED or LCD displays locked in but it's probably a better idea to be safe than sorry because removing the cracked screen will likely make it nonviable to put back if the other doesn't work.

I would watch some YouTube videos on this before doing the job...
Oh yeah. I recommend the same. There's a good chance you'll find your exact device being disassembled and possibly even this repair. The only reason I didn't mention such steps is because the OP was so willing to attempt this, made me feel like they either knew what they were getting into or maybe had done it before. They just sounded confident.
