Replaced battery - battery icon on loop

hi all,
i replaced my N5 three year old battery for a "new" one from ebay, and it won't turn on, the battery icon is on a loop when plugged in to the charger, and when i disconnect it from the charger, it won't do nothing.
i can get to bootloader but nowhere to go from there
anyone got a solution?

I'd say you got a bum battery.
