Replaced Cracked Screen, phone doesn't work now.

I cracked my phone, then bought a replacement from aliexpress (i dont live in US), but after replacing the screen, the phone wont turn on. displays only lines and stuff. like in the picture. Did i just screw my phone by attempting to fix it myself, or did the seller send me a bum product? Would appreciate if anyone can take a look at the pictures and tell me if its the display not working or something else. Thanks!

If you got the Nexus 5 from Google play they will replace the phone one time for no cost, you just have to contact them.

unfortunately it was bought in Canada, so it doesn't apply to me. Anyone can tell me what's wrong with the phone?
