Replaced Maxx screen. Did I break the battery?

I left my phone on the charger for a few days while I was waiting for a new screen. After I replaced the screen, the phone would not turn on. I finally got it to turn on and get to the "Dual Core Technology" screen with the battery out and the charger plugged in. I checked the battery with a multimeter, but I couldn't get any voltage. The batteries for my other phones read 3.6V with the multimeter. Also, as I'm plugging in the charger, the white LED comes on for a second and goes back off.

Do I just need a new battery? I'm thinking about wiring a charger directly to the battery terminals just to see if the phone will come on that way.
 
Where did u buy a screen and how much was it?
