I know many of the reviews touted how great the newly revised stock keyboard was but after trying it a while I wasn't loving it. Word prediction was good, but no better than the SwiftKey-X and there was no way to access special symbols (think: !@#$%, etc) without transitioning to the number/symbol screen. Also there were no arrow keys to move the cursor left/right/up/down. So I just downloaded SwiftKey-X from the Amazon app store (free) and I'm much happier. I find it to be a far more flexible, intuitive way of inputting text than the stock keyboard.

i did the same thing plus if you use the neon theme it matches the theme of ics much better

Coming from htc products i think the stock keyboard was garbage on the nexus

The problem is if you can't use the continuous voice entry that comes with ice cream sandwich. The stock keyboard allows this, but SwiftKey uses the traditional voice entry.

It isn't as quick as just pushing the voice button, but when a 3rd party keyboard is active in ICS you can pull down the notification screen and there is a keyboard settings you can select and then change right to the continuous voice entry input.

I'm using FlexT9, its better than Swype. Got it free at Amazon as app of the day. Love it

I have both on my phone and I chose the SwiftKey-X over the T9 keyboard.

I guess a lot of it is just personal preference.

I used to have better keyboard 8, then I took an arrow.... then the developer got his apps pulled from the Google market and im sure it won't work with Android 4 but I miss the larger keys they keys are small
