Replacement battery

I purchased an extra batter for my S3 to use while on vacation. I purchased it from AC store and it is the same battery that came with phone. However it has been charging for over 10 hours and never gets above 87% charged. Is this a bad battery or something else. Phone is powered off when charging . I turned it on to see where it was in charging since the green notification light never came on.

Hi, run the battery flat and try recharging it again.

Maybe you should try to charge and fully drain the battery for the first 3 cycles.
