I am on AT&T and my 3gs has bit the big one. I have been having issues with it for the last several months and wanted to replace it with an android phone.

I know the backflip is the only android phone available at the moment, but is there any other phone from another carrier that can be used on AT&T>

Thanks.

nexus one. you have to buy direct from google, but you dont have to worry about carrier bloatware and it is a great phone to tinker with the os in root if that is your thing. but it is miles better than the backflip

EDIT: here is the link for it

2nd the N1 for AT&T. There are several places where my iPhone would drop that my N1 hangs on to the call.

I am constantly "off network" and running at edge speed. My daughter's 3G feature phone will be on 3G while I am on off network. That sucks and AT&T nor apple can fix it.

It is very frustrating.

Bob,

I am keeping the iphone. My daughter will use it as a touch; if it gets fixed then all is good and she will inherit it.

I am purchasing a backflip (not the best I know) for $50.00 from a friend. I think this will give me some time to learn android and wait a month or so and see if any new android phones come out on AT&T.

How is the android experience on the backflip? I have read there is bloatware on it but I figured $50 was hard to beat. Will this give me a fair experience of android?

Thanks much.

There is supposed to be a high-end Android phone coming to AT&T (an HTC phone I believe) in the coming months. I got the Nexus One. ATT cripples Android (you can't load unsigned apps and Yahoo is the search provider on the Backflip).

It was expensive at the outset, but when Froyo comes (officially) I'll be able to use it as a wireless access point for my iPad.
