Damn. I've misplaced the neoprene slip case that came with my N1. Anyone had luck replacing it from the Ebay sellers? The search I did:

nexus one oem case neoprene

Knowing myself, I thought I'd buy 5 of them while I'm at it (if it's the actual OEM product for $1).

Call HTC, they might send you one for free, all depends on the rep you get, I also hear they are fairly loose with replacement headsets

I read in a another post that you need to call HTC support at 888-216-4736. They will sell it to you for $14.99 with shipping. You may need to provide your IMEI number.

The cases on ebay with the android logo on them looked pretty legit. For $0.99 i'll get one just to check it out because I was going to order a backup anyway.

I gotta ask why you would want that case, other than as a collectors item?

Its dreadfully inconvenient to get the phone out of it when it rings, then push the slider, only to find the call went to voice mail because all of that took so long.

You run the risk of dropping the phone from all the fumbling with the case (it takes two hands), thereby negating the very reason for the case: protecting the phone.

There are a lot of nice cases in the AndroidCentral store (and elsewhere) that are far more functional.

I agree with you on both points, but it does look good (with the robot) and its thin

Well, it does what I'm looking to do.
1) Be low profile
2) Protect from scratches in my pocket
3) Provide some minimal cushioning

Is there a case out there that does that for less than $1 other than this potential OEM slip case?

I did end up buying a few of these. They look exactly like the OEM slip case and work just fine. Then I found my OEM case and realized that the ebay-acquired replacement is a bit different.

The OEM slip case has a tiny bit more cushion. It's small, but noticeable. As if the OEM had a small cushioning insert that was missing from the replacement.

The Android logo silk-screening is of higher quality on the OEM, showing less wear in a longer period of time.

For $1 plus shipping and handling, it's not a bad replacement, though.

On the other hand, I'd still like to get a price on the actual OEM slip case. Or maybe some other fabric slip case that's functionally similar but even more cushioning?

Other than as a collecters item I find the original slip case a huge pain to get off before the call goes to Voicemail.

Are the ebay ones any looser?

I love the case that came with it. It lets me keep it in my pocket and my phone still looks brand new. If you can get it out of the case fast enough to answer a call, then that's your fault, not the case.

I lost mine at the Washington Auto Show last year and I'm still a little sad about it. The in line controls on the headset that came with the phone have stopped working and the left earbud keeps shocking me but I won't toss them because they were the original accessories.

I found the neoprene case to be a pain in the neck. Too hard to get the phone out of when needed.
So mine is in perfect condition. Never used.

I'm still trying to figure out how you can get a shock from 3.4 volts.
