Hi,
I had rooted my gf's optimus s using the gingersnap utility and flashed reborn rom while it was running the vc baseband by mistake which I had forgotten it was running vc until after the fact. I know I'm a dummy. :p And everything seems to be working, it rooted just fine, the custom recovery flashed fine and reborn rom is running fine. My questions are: should I go ahead and update to vd using lg updater tool? If so, will it remove root or brick the phone? Or should I just leave it on vc since everything is working? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Thanks for everyone's help! Got it resolved! :)

Use a root explorer or adb shell to uninstall "mvpdm.apk" from /system/app

I'm running v9 software on my phone...

Hi,
thanks for the quick reply. What will that do by the way? Just curious. Thanks :)

Hi, I also have one more question. I am running nameless rom on my phone. Can I just flash reborn rom right over it or do I need to do something else first? Thanks

It's always a good idea to do a complete wipe when switching roms. I even do it just upgarding the same rom myself. I have never had an issue doing it this way. It does make it a pain to restore apps, but luckily titanium backup is around. You can restore all your apps and data with it.

OK thanks for the quick reply. Would reborn rom be a good choice? Just asking bc I was reading a thread on here where people were having issues with battery life after flashing it. Also do I have to back up system apps as well as user apps or just user apps. Thanks

It's always hard to tell what might be causing all of the battery issues. One person may have extremely poor battery life yet another have excelent battery life running the same rom. A lot of times it depends on what apps are running. Having data on and being in roaming most of the time will drain the battery quicker because it is constantly trying to connect to sprint network for example. I have run every rom available for our phone and each of them have given me the same result when it comes to battery life. Personally I do not think there is much difference. Reborn is a good rom. So is shell rom and the other new one (sorry can't remember the name atm) that is stripped down. I enjoy running the gingerbread builds myself, but they do have issues and bugs that are still being worked out. Personally I would try some out and see what works best for you. Try one out, run it for a day or 2 and then switch to the next one, etc. Doing so will give you a chance to see which one is best for you. Only you can determine the best one.

OK thanks for the tips but I had one more question that I had added in the last post by hitting the edit button but u must have read it before it posted: when I backup my apps do I backup the system apps as well as the user apps or just the user apps? Just wondering so I don't screw the phone up. Thanks

Re: Help: Flashed Reborn ROM on VC baseband

Thanks guys for the welcome it's great to be a part of this community. Although I have been a member since March I haven't had a chance to visit much since I registered. Since I'm here posting this reply, I have another problem I'm having that maybe someone could help me with. By the way, if I'm supposed to start a new thread for a different issue then I apologize to everyone including the moderators as I wasn't aware of that. What it is, my apps are all of a sudden not loading on my phone from my sd card, I can open my pics in my gallery, I can play my videos and even play the mp3s just fine on the card, it's just my apps will not load whatsoever. I've already tried rebooting the phone, I've tried turning the phone off pulling out the card and reinserting it, I've tried a battery pull, I've tried reformatting the card via the computer method and putting everything back on it after formatting, I've even tried another sd card that I had here and putting everything on it and still the same thing. I'm out of options now. Is there anything else I can try that I haven't done yet? Could it be an issue with the ROM? Should I try re-flashing it? I'm running Nameless Rom with Xionia Clockwork recovery. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know bc this has got me frustrated. Appreciate any help that can be offered. Thanks

Are you talking about apps that you installed and they wont run
OR
Do you mean they are apps(.apk files) you wish to install from the card?
Do you have the Uknown Sources box checked in settings/applications for non market installs?
:)

Thanks for the quick reply. No I mean apps that I downloaded from the market to the SD card. Those won't load anymore and the icons disappeared from the app drawer. And they used to work fine but all of a sudden they wouldn't load after a reboot. I can still access my pics and mp3s stuff Like that but not the apps. What could be wrong?

Re: Help: Flashed Reborn ROM on VC baseband

The problem with that is I have more apps than I have internal memory on the phone. I have like 700+mb of apps and only about 100mb of internal memory so that's not possible.

Try unmounting and remounting a card menu>settings> sd and phone a storage.
Try rebooting too helps sometimes
Lastly try moving one app to phone opening it then move it back test again long processes but worked for me.

Re: Help: Flashed Reborn ROM on VC baseband

Tried all of that but to no avail. In fact when I try and unmount it just hangs for awhile and then comes back with an error message and force closes. U think I should try re -flashing nameless ROM?

Re: Help: Flashed Reborn ROM on VC baseband

i think you have to reinstall all the programs after your first time flashing the rom.
