Restarting the phone no longer closes apps, why is it doing this?

Restarting the phone no longer closes app

I have a Sprint Note Edge, which got the Lollipop update awhile back. I noticed recently that when I restart the phone, my apps that were open still remain open when the phone comes back on. Is this a new feature of Lollipop (that I'm strangely just now noticing), or is there a setting so that one can choose whether powering off the phone will close current apps? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Mine does the same thing on AT&T. You'll either have to clear them before restart manually, or turn your phone off, then on. Turning off clears all, with fresh restart.

Re: Restarting the phone no longer closes app

That's my point. Turning the phone off used to close apps. Now on mine it doesn't. This must be a Lollipop feature. I will just force close them manually from now on. I guess keeping open apps open after a restart could also be a good thing...

Re: Restarting the phone no longer closes app

Are those apps still open or just in the recent apps list? After lollipop an app being in the overview doesn't necessarily means that is open.

if you can go to task manager then you can see which apps are active

Re: Restarting the phone no longer closes app

Thanks Javier P and LazyBoss. You both were correct. I tested it by opening some apps, checking the recent apps list, then restarting the phone. Although the recent apps list was the same as before the restart, those same apps were no longer listed as running when checking task manager.

Re: Restarting the phone no longer closes app

Sorry...so you're actually "turning the phone off?" Not just restarting? Restart will keep them there, whereas a complete shutdown, "should" clear them,as mine does.

Edit...Just noticing the other post from Javier....makes sense now....

All of them? That's the thing. Of course that the active apps will be listed there, but together with dozens of other ones that are not. You can even find diferent cards for the same app! including the settings.
