Just got the Nexus 5x and after my activation nightmare courtesy of VZW I was finally able to get it up and running. However, where are all my contacts, text messages, photos, music, etc? I'm coming from the HTC One M7. Would like to find out how I can restore all my content. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Contacts should have come over from when you signed into your Google account. You did a sync right?

Texts and photos can come over if they used a data transfer machine. I don't know if they still do that but we did that when I worked in Best Buy mobile.

Music will have to be done yourself.

Apparently I never backed up my contacts until now so I'm good to go there. Still trying to figure out photos and text messages. They couldn't do it at VZW, at least thats what they told me. Normally I use HTC Transfer tool, but can't do that with my Nexus 5x .

Photos can be backed up via G+, can you still do that on your M7 via wifi?

I had everything transfer over from my Verizon M7 with no problem using the Google Settings sync. The only thing that didn't transfer are my texts (No big deal) and my phone numbers (Big deal)

Searching for YouTube vids now...

To transfer texts, you can try using helium. I had initial success with this app transferring from my (rooted) nexus 4 to my 5x (including text messages). However, subsequent attempts to use the software (including setting up a new tablet) have been less successful so ymmv...

[edit]: And to get media like photos etc., just use a computer to copy your /sdcard contents from one device to the other.
