I can empathize with the OP if the issue is the same as mine, or as irritating, that I posted many times here about... unwanted digital special effects in your ear. I went through 3 G2's with the same issue (one of which also overheated) and the verizon store employees heard it on all three and agree it's messed up. It's almost maddening that others get to enjoy their G2 when I tried my best to get a working one, but I'm going to give up after 3. It's not worth the aggravation and verizon may not have let me exchange any more. Of course I've also tried 2 Moto X's also with defective mic, so 5 bad phones in a month is about my quota before going insane. I'm going to forget it for a while and appreciate my sluggish galaxy S but at least I can make phone calls and have two-way conversations with it. Also, my galaxy S almost consistently had 5-10 dBm better CDMA voice signal strength than the G2. At times I was shocked at how horribly low the signal level was. I didn't have any way of comparing the 4G signal though.
By the way I tried an iphone 5s in the store and I didn't think it was anything special, I thought the G2 (when it works) was better.
