Review: Bought a Sero 8

The box and specs say it has a quad core chip. When I go in to google play this app doesn't even show up as available yet on my sero7 it shows. Strange. This sero8 was a gift.

Oh my bad, I thought I read it wasn't. I'd would try to side load the app then and see what happens.

Returned the Sero8. You are right it does compare to the Zero Lt. If they come out with an 8 Pro I will probably get it.

Smart move, it might be OK for a Child; beyond that I don't see much use for it.

You are correct you will never convince me, out side of getting GPS through WfFi which I already stated, it does NOT have GPS. Yes I have that app and a whole lot more and the Sero is istting right infront of me next to one of my Samsung's, want to guess which one has GPS w/o WiFi ?
Man, oh, man, I sure am glad I don't need to use my Sero 7 Pro for one of the main reasons I bought it, the hobby observation of visible man-made Earth satellites. I need to be out in very dark areas, far away from any wifi, needing GPS for location and, more importantly, precise time purposes and for the red on black rendered skylines and predicted satellite path the Sero 7 Pro provides when I hold it up to the sky.

Oh, wait! I DO do that. Successfully, even!

Maybe it's because of the GPS chip and antenna in my Sero 7 Pro. Note the GPS marking in the lower, right-hand corner of this Sero 7 Pro internal photo included on an Android developer page:

Must be a misprint.

And, of course, page 16 of the Sero 7 Pro Manual found from this unreliable source:

http://hisense-usa.com/support/manuals/Sero7 Pro_us_m_en_man.pdf

says:

My Location may be able to acquire your position through an internal GPS connection.
From Home screen, select Settings > Personal > Location access and check GPS satellites.
When you open Maps, it will search for GPS satellites automatically if you’ve enabled GPS on the Sero 7.
A blinking satellite icon in the Notification Bar indicates Maps is searching for GPS satellites, while a
steady satellite icon indicates an active GPS satellite connection.
NOTES • External GPS receivers are unsupported for use with Google Maps for the Sero 7 at this time.
• Use of GPS functionality greatly increases the rate at which battery is depleted.
• The Sero 7 needs a clear view of the sky in order to communicate with GPS satellites.

But that "clear view of the sky" requirement must be for that wifi location method you're talking about because, as everyone knows, wifi comes from the sky and that large increase in battery drain mentioned must be from that non-existent GPS chip.

I came here to check out the Sero 8. Now that this issue has been resolved, lets get back on that topic.
