This isn't an in-depth review, however they say the battery life was identical to the M8.

He says he is getting two days battery life with average use? What is his definition of average use? I don't know anybody getting 48 hours battery life out of the M8 unless it has been in standby for 24 of those hours which would be average use. He also complains about the hardware but says it is at par or better in some cases with the iPhone 6 performance wise. This review not being in-depth is an understatement.

My apologies if this was already posted.

Some major concerns there. Mainly the overheating and poor battery life. The camera stuff I don't see...he trashes the camera and says the photos were blurry on the right side, when I looked at the photos I didn't see it. They looked fine to me. I'm not looking to take gallery quality pictures with a smartphone. But the high temps and poor battery life definitely a concern. Also very concerning that they are waiting so long to release the phone. The M8 went on sale at Verizon the same day they announced it, this phone over 5 weeks from announcement to availability. Definitely raises concerns. I wanted to love this phone but not feeling the love so far. The S6 Edge is looking better all the time.

Why is htc being so secretive about the M9 reviews? The only thorough M9 review is there because of broken agreements with tech websites, and that Dutch media drama on Monday with htc only made the whole reddit community suspicious.

I see so many S6 reviews already even with the review embargo still up, and all of them have great things to say about it like, "It's the fastest Android phone I've used" and "It's the closest thing to a masterpiece."

Where are the M9 reviews?

One thing that came out of the HTC announcement yesterday.

He was asked "Is the 810 processor overheating?"

His answer was "HTC will not release a product that is faulty and we assure you we would not release a product with such a problem"

ie yes it has an overheating problem and we are trying to fix it

Overall, I am distraught that it's coming to light that it may not be a good phone. I have been holding out for 6 months for this phone and I am so disappointing I won't be getting it

Did you watch the HTC announcement yesterday?

They had a great opportunity to address all of the problems, to 3500 concerned HTC fans.

All they did was promote their phone replacement scheme

If they have talked about it, then even those who didn't know before will start more ruckus. Non techies would then be involved also. If in the end there is something wrong when it's in stores, even I will probably not get the phone.
Simply, if they said something good or bad, the end result would have been bad (credibility of the concerned).

Seeing reviewers damage-control for Qualcomm and all OEMs using the 810, I can't say Phil's words are comforting.

I see reviewers saying, "Oh, the lag isn't that bad. You'll only barely notice it."
Yeah, BULL****!
The G Flex 2 lags so damn much that I genuinely think it's the WORST performing smartphone I've EVER used.

You have the understand that reviewers are mouth pieces for OEMs and the words coming out of their mouth or hands can't be trusted. Reviewers are slaves to the almighty dollar at the end of the day, and speaking objectively about any bad device will put them on a manufacturer's blacklist. This means no more future pre-release hands-on devices, meaning less viewers, meaning less money.

I agree, Phil could have 5 free M9's and a Nexus 9 on the way to say "Thank You' for choosing to review our product.

We did it all the time at work, I worked in software and we'd send gifts with the product to reviewers all the time

I worked in video games (not to any high level) and we did a racing game for Playstation. We sent all of the magazines a petrol remote controlled car which was a direct replica of that on the game.

And we got great reviews lol

Give us bad reviews? Then no goodies next time

This is funny. People were saying the phone wasn't getting hot at MWC. It was on a charger..blah...blah..blah. Outright, illogical excuses. Now the truth comes to light. Egg on lots of faces.

In essence, HTC was very close to selling a defective device to the masses. Why? Because in my opinion the M9 was rushed and not a lot of TLC was put into this device by HTC. The writing is on the wall. Wait for the M10, something just isn't right guys.

Why would HTC ship defective devices to reviewers though? Especially if HTC supposedly knew there were problems with the device. The phone could have burned someone's kid or something.

Now what about that camera? What can HTC hide from us next.

HTC knew there was a problem at MWC with the device. Hence their less than stellar presentation and talking about how the phone was machined opposed to what the phone can actually do for us. It's all starting to add up.

Life goes on its a fxxxing phone already .. sorry to pinpoint you out . I've been reading all of these remarks, threads, posts .... It's a phone people !! I got the m8 recently . My last 3 phones were HTC I like the phones and software. If I was upgrading this year I would get the m9 . I hate iPhones , LG. , and Samsung phones for all different reasons . If I did upgrade to this and it wasn't any good . Guess what poof I would get something else. I can care less about the early reviews that have early software . Not even gonna entertain the thought again . Remember folks it's a phone !!!!! Life goes on jeez
