My Captivate is doing some wierd stuff when you turn it on. Friend had the same problem with is S4, Same exact problem, it turned out the be the LCD.

So I am going to get another working captivate with a good LCD and transplant my motherboard into it to get my pictures off of it.

My Captivate was the best phone I ever owned.

Suggestion.

Open both phones, but don't remove anything.

Unplug the LCD cables (both phones).

Position the phones so that you can plug the good LCD into your phone. Plug the phone into a computer and use the good screen to do anything you need so that the computer can read the phone. Then copy everything off.

The less you take apart, the less the chance that when you put it back together you'll do something wrong (and end up with 2 dead phones instead of 1).

Actualy, you should be able to get to all the data by just turning the phone on and plugging it into a computer that has the SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones installed. You shouldn't need the screen for anything. Try that before taking stuff apart.

(And, in the future, if you keep everything backed up [you just have to back up a change if you make a change, you don't have to back up the whole phone each time], you won't have this problem again.)
