I have noticed on three occassions now that my Droid X seems to have a ringtone glitch.

I have a whole bunch of ringtones I have added to my SD Card and I have about 20 of my contacts set up with individualized ringtones.

Here's the glitch.

If one contact calls with an individualized ringtone and I miss the call, whoever the next caller is uses the ringtone set up for the previous contact. Hope that makes sense.

Anyone experience this? Any known glitch or solutions out there?

Thanks,

Was anything plugged in to the USB port at the time? This can make the sdcard unavailable even when selecting 'charge only' from the usb settings. It isn't supposed to, but some software like DoubleTwist installed with its default USB settings will make the sdcard unavailable while charging on a PC, even in 'Charge Only' mode.
If you are rooted you can use root explorer to move your ringtones to /system/media/audio/ringtones Haven't had any ringtone issues since.

Nope. Was not plugged in at the time. It happened one more time over the weekend. Must be some glitch somewhere. Hopefully a 2.2 update soon will resolve.

It has happened to me also. I will get a call from a contact with an assigned ringtone and hear the default ring. Then I will get another call and hear the previous caller's ringtone. Assigned ringtones have only worked about 50% of the time for me.

OK... I was having the same problem with my Android Incredible... I wanted to set a specific ringtone to a specific contact for when they messaged me and I kept getting the default ringer before the assigned ringer for that person... But after spending 3 days tryin to fix the problem or get help for the solution to fixing it...I figured it out on my own....The best way and I think the easiest way would be to download Ringdroid, Gtunes, and Ringo Lite.... heres what I do... I download the song I want for a specific contact ringtone from Gtunes, which is the full song of whatever your looking for, then once its downloaded I got to Ringdroid and cut it to where I want the ringer to be at, save it to something I can remember easily, BUT DO NOT ADD TO ANYTHING YET.....WHEN THAT SCREEN POPS UP AFTE YOU SAVE IT>>JUST CANCEL...Then I go to my Ringo Lite App, click contact, and you will see two bars... A ringer bar and a SMS bar then when you click on one all you ringtones are saved in there and you can choose the one you want for that contacts ringer and SMS tone... I found out that after doin that... NO MORE GLITCH!!!!.. It might seem like a lot but trust me its the easiest way for me to do it after I figured it out and much quicker.... Hope it helps.... If not....Sorry... It worked for me!!!

I have the same problem but a little different. I have a specific ringtone for say my mom. When she calls i get that tone GREAT!! however when anyone else calls doesnt matter who it could be a random number i still get that tone. I have deleted or thought i deleted the ringtones for my contacts but they are still there. So my questions:

How can I fix this?
How do you delete ringtones given to a contact?
