Ringtones and text messages

I've set up to sound notifications. One is text message for text messages. The other is a mail notification when an incoming email arrives. Both of these sounds are going off. I cannot find any email Or text messages. What do I ne
ed to do to find out what is causing these announcements
I have also checked all other types of notification and they do not seem to be triggering it. How do I find out what's causing it? thanks
