Plane vs. boat

Well, if you read interview with Carol Shaw, River Raid's creator, here:

RIVER RAID

you will see it was supposed to be a boat in the original game, and only ended up a plane because Atari had so small resolution ( 112x172 IIRC ) that they couldn't draw a good looking boat. If you think about it for a second a boat will start to make more sense that a plane!

One more reasson for this change: in my clone, there are special levels ( 'lakes' ) where submarines chase you around and shoot torpedoes. Now submarines torpedoing a plane, that would be something too far stretched
