Roaming out of the US

If I take my roaming off, will I still get charged by using my phone? Or, if I leave it on? I just want it for pics really.

If you got the money to blow. You can do anything you want. Voice is about $5 a minute. Data is no better.

Place on Airplane mode you be fine. If you like. Call Sprint cc. Ask them to restrict usage til you get back.

You should be able to turn roaming data off without going into airplane (it's possible on my Epic - in fact I can turn off all network data. I'm pretty sure it's a Froyo thing and not a device specific feature). This would allow you to find wifi hotspots for calls via Skype/ooVoo or similar and your data needs without incurring roaming charges.

Oh and if you definitely absolutely in no way need anything except the camera...go buy a camera. Then you'll have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Japan to US it was 1.99 a minute. 3G only

Yeah only used the phone for about 5 minutes in 2 weeks.
To let my family here know I had arrived safely and when I departed Japan.

a couple of text here and there.

Not much of a bump at all.

I just took my Evo along to see if it would work and if it did? in case of an emergency.
