Roaming Problem

When I'm out of TMobile coverage I was told by the salespeople I would be able to roam for free. Now when I need to roam I get a pop up the says I'm not registered in the network. The guys in the store changed the settings but it did not help. Anyone know what the settings should be?

It is set to roam and to prefer cellular.

Thanks

Which phone do you have, and which carrier is it trying to roam on?

Galaxy note 9. I know Verizon has coverage there because I switched recently. Am told at&t does too. I'm not trying for any particular carrier, I just want to be able to get/make calls. The phone is supposed to choose I think. Phone network mode is set to LTE/3G/2G (auto connect).

From what I'm reading on T-Mobile's support pages, their domestic roaming is with specific local partners (and not necessarily Verizon or AT&T, depending on the location). Call T-Mobile support and ask them specifically who the domestic roaming partner is in the area in question. Or is this happening no matter where you go outside of your coverage area?

Have not had the phone long enough to know if it is a widespread problem. The sales guys did not indicate I'd have limited roaming. They made it sound like if I was off the network it would roam to whoever had a good signal. I think I've been misled. Been with Verizon since 1996. Perhaps I should have stayed with them.

Unfortunately, sales reps in the store don't always have the most up-to-date technical knowledge. You may be better off calling T-Mobile's support line and asking to talk to tech support there. Good luck!
