Rocket Music Player (A free app located on Google Play and Amazon Market) is going to be upgraded to V 2.0 at the end of June to coincide with Google I/O! We will be introducing new features with this release and are very excited about it.

We would like anyone and everyone's opinion of the app. Please give it a try and tell me what you think.

The interface is nice, I like the large buttons.

When I pause a song from the notification area, it is removed and I then have to open the application to resume the song. Not sure if this is a bug.

RMP is terrific! I purchased the pro version to access the additional features. It is reliable, fast, and I really like some of the features, e.g., ease/control of playlists, assigning EQ. Headset controls actually work! Great job!

It would be great to customize headset controls more. For example, I don't usually reverse to start of song or go to previous song--typically I use stop/start and forward. It would be handy to either be able to select which commands to use or change the order of commands for my preference to 1-click (start/stop), 2-clicks (forward), 3 clicks (reverse to start of song), 4-clicks (previous song).

The app is pretty responsive and quick in general. On my Nexus S 4g, there are skips/pauses/stuttering sometimes when opening or working with other apps--I assume that this is related to the lower RAM on these units. I'm guessing newer phones won't seeing anything like that at all, but if any optimization could happen to improve this on my device and other older ones it would be welcomed.

Try this again, first post didn't take.

Thank you for the kind words on the player. Any feedback is welcomed feedback, but positive feedback is fantastic! We have had users request this type of update and customizations to headset controls, and I will forward this onto the development team.

Please keep the feedback coming!

Good question, RMP closes down when you pause from the notification bar because it is inactive. We do not want to stay active if we are not being used, and certainly do not want to clutter the notification bar.

Hi,
I really want to try this app but whenever I try to open it I get "unfortunately, Rocket Player has stopped." i can't seem to figure out the problem, any help would be appreciated.

thanks.

I would love to have the option for a transparent background for the widgets! BTW, thanks for listening :-)

My main problem is that when I choose random play of songs it actually isn't that "random".
There is a large possibility next song will be from the same artist.
I'm using it for some time now and I think this is the true.
A simple solution would be when it "randomly" chooses the next song to check if it's from the same artist. If so, choose again. Do this 3 times. I think that way it would be much less the same artist songs in a row.

Another great featue would be to be able to choose to play songs for more that 1 genre. For example choose "Rock" and "Pop" songs randomly.

Also I agree for a transparent theme.

I have been using RMP since the earlier version. Not sure which one it was. Always love it. Especially its play count feature, for I use yhe information to update my playlist with iSyncr.

However, I just found that the latest version doesn't really play in background. It plays well even if I switch to other apps. Only it will stop at the end of the current song. I have to either put my Oppo Find 5 to sleep (power button) to make it play continuously, or manually switch to RMP app to play the next track. Even the widget or the notification bar doesn't respond.

I don't know if this has something to do with my Oppo firmware or a bug in the app, since I just also switched to the new phone at about the same time as the app was updated. As far as remember, this didn't happen with previous RMP on my Galaxy S3.

I'm not really sure what we're seeing here with Rocket Player not playing in the background. If you'd contact me at MusicPlayer@JRTStudio.com we can take a closer look at what may be happening.

In regards to a transparent or holo theme - take a look at this tutorial on changing themes in Rocket Player from our website.

Additionally our holo blue theme is now the default for Rocket Player rather than the classic red and the light "base" and different colored themes were implemented in Rocket Player 2.2.

I voted excellent because I absolutely love it and bought it. Please keep us updated and keep up the great work. Thanks for what you do. Cheers.

Rocket Player is my first choice. Being a smartphone and tablet newby, I am also using Google Play and the Amazon player to see if they have features I prefer. They all work great and are plenty intuitive and feature-laden.

So far, I like two things about Rocket that don't seem to be available on the other two:

First, it is possible to tell Rocket where to scan for music. I sometimes like to scan just the SD card on my tablet and ignore the music files in the tablet's memory (I have reasons....). It might be possible to do this with the other players, but it wasn't as easy to find that configuation and I haven't found it yet.

I also like the big, full screen album cover art graphics when a song is playing, which is more to my liking than the other two players. I actually have a semi-permanent installation of my tablet up in my home stereo area and the tablet prominently displays the cover art of what's playing at the time.

I have all my songs associated with album covers. It's just somethign I like, and have always been doing even back in the stone ages (at least 10 years ago) when I was using the Sony Sonic Stage music player (actually a very nice player, I liked it better than ITunes at the time) with my old proprietary Sony "Memory Stick Walkman". I still like scrolling through the "cover art" method of searching on my IPod too. Probably because I'm old and learned to select music by picking through a shelf or box of vinyl LP albums "back in the day".

This is the only area I'm having problems with the Rocket Playert - and I'm in communication with them. When any song is playing, the correct album art shows, no problem while I'm actually playing music. However, when I'm in the grid view of the "Albums" tab, scrolling through looking for a particular album, the album artwork shown is more or less random - not correct for many if not most albums, and it also changes randomly as I scroll through - when I scroll a line of the grid off the screen, and then scroll back, many of the covers shown have changed, sometimes to the appropriate one, but sometimes to a different erroneous one. Very random and variably variable 8-)

This is only on my Samsung Tab2 10.1 tablet. I don't have the problem on my Moto X phone which syncs to the exact same music files on my laptop: I have a large "playlist" on my laptop's ITunes which contains approximately 16 gigs of albums and I sync that to each device. I also have some other playlists, but again, sync'd to both devices identically.

Anyway, I'm wondring if anyone else has seen those errors in cover art?

We believe that this is an issue with the 2.6 release. If you'd like to try the 2.6.1 release, please contact JRT Studio and I will get you hooked up with the beta build. This should be released soon and fix this issue.

random play of songs it actually isn't that "random".

indeed, during my last random play i had songs that was already listened to ... 'the last random play before'. I precise that the list has a size most higher than 10 ;-)

maybe the play count could give more priority to songs with low count, and less priority for songs that have been played more often ?

(there no other android player than RP, which ROCKS :-)

Sometimes when I am listening to rocket player it stopts playing and when I open the app again it is paused at a song I was listening to two hours ago :/

It's really weird and very annoying.

Can you help me?

My phone is the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

Delighted with the app, I got the trial version initially and have now upgraded to Pro. Just one question: when connected to my car audio (via bluetooth) the track name, artist and album title are displayed but no artwork. Is there any way round that? Thanks.
