I've been having the same issue since when i first got it.

I charge it overnight, and my phone gets really hot. It's not just the battery that's hot, it's the entire phone.

Then when i unplug it, the red indicator light (for charging) stays on.

Then when I press the side button, I realize my phone is off/frozen (since the red light is still on).
The only way to get it back on is to take out the battery, wait a minute, then put it back in.

Please help! It's been doing this for 5 months, approximately every 3 nights.

Make sure you take the phone out of the case when charging. If the unit gets warm, it's because the case isn't allowing proper ventilation when charging, the charging creates quite a bit of heat. Your battery will last much longer (longevity wise) charging with the case off.
