Introducing MIUI 7.29.11 for your HTC Supersonic:

MIUI is an Android ROM built from Android open source. It greatly improves the functionality and speed of your device. For those of you unaware, there is no 4G support for MIUI. This ROM is built in China but they have an English site as well. What I have done is take their release and port it to our EVOs, since the EVO is not an official release. I have also translated the build from Chinese to English so you can understand what you're looking at =P This ROM does NOT include HDMI and 4G, so if those are important to you, then this ROM is not for you. Because I am not an actual developer of the ROM, its hard to say whether these things will be included. I suggest you give it a shot if you haven't already, it's a completely different android experience.

Known issues / bugs:
  • No 4G support
  • No support for HDMI out
  • Auto focus on cam can be buggy (turned off by default). If you snap a photo with auto focus on before you let it focus it might lock up on you

Thanks:
Thanks goes out to MIUI developers for a great ROM, MIUI Android for their translations and CyanogenMod for their kernel and Supersonic core.

Features of MIUI:

Theme manager

MIUI includes a very robust theme manager. You can change overall themes, or mix and match different styles like the dialer, lockscreen, messaging etc. Themes are available all over, even in ROM. If you look above, you're able to select "online themes" and browse the MIUI database. Keep in mind, some themes that theme text, like lockscreen themes found through the app, might still have some chinese. If you ever have a request for a translation, post it here.

When applying themes, you are able to select what exactly you want the theme to change, also pictured above. You can uncheck and check certain components to apply, a great way to keep things you might not want changed.

Traffic monitor / firewall

MIUI comes with a built in traffic monitor and firewall to help address specific data / voice thresholds. You are able to set maximums, control what has access to the internet, and setup warnings to notify you when you're approaching your maximum for a certain amount of time. A great feature for those with anything other than unlimited plans.

Notification widgets

MIUI has two options for quick notification toggles. These toggles allow quick changing of system preferences, such as enabling / disabling wifi, sound, data, flashlight, airplane mode, reboot, shutdown, gps, etc. You are able to use the page toggles, which can be accessed by swiping on the notification pulldown to the right, or pressing the tab that says toggles at the bottom. You also are able to use custom toggles, which you choose what they are and the order they are in. These toggles are displayed on the actual pulldown, with no extra pages, and swipe from left to right to show more.

MIUI camera enhancements

The camera of MIUI has been enhanced in many ways. The camera shoots 8mp, but DOES NOT support 720p recording. Camcorder and front facing cam are supported. The camera has picture filters one can enable to change the output of snapped photos. The camera supports auto focus, anti-shake, snap delay, white balance, metering, contrast saturation and sharpness as well as a few other settings.

Re: [ROM] MIUI [7.1.11 Beta 7]

MIUI tips & tricks
Here is a place for some common tips for the average MIUI user. Not everyone is aware of these features, so I feel they are important to share.

  • Screenshot- MIUI takes native screenshots. Holding menu down and clicking volume down will snap a screenshot of the current screen and store it on your sd card in MIUI/screen_caps
  • Backup- MIUI's native backup application is a great tool. It backs up applications, messages, contacts, screen settings, system settings, everything but the ROM itself. This makes updating a breeze. Make sure to use this tool, as its a wonderful app.

MIUI is the bomb, too bad my NS4G is behind about 2 releases now :(

Darned evo's gettin all the love.

Re: [ROM] MIUI [7.1.11 Beta 7]

I may have to try this ROM once but no 4G is a big issue.

Re: [ROM] MIUI [7.1.11 Beta 7]

I dont have Miui just yet cause of the 4g and HDMI not working on it but is there a timeline on when they think they will be getting it up and running?

Re: [ROM] MIUI [7.1.11 Beta 7]

HDMI will work if you have a flash a kernel that supports HDMI

Thanks on that and what about the 4g? I can live with out that but still would like to know if its in the works.

I like to run it for a week every once in awhile to switch things up haha.

Its pretty nice.
