Alright. i wanna try something here. any chance that someone running this Amazing Rom who has a Working GPS, be willing to copy the GPSSetup.Apk for me? i was using SDX Stock APP Remover, and i dont even have it on my phone!!! i'm guessing this could be an answer for us without GPS??? if anyone knows about this, (Ragnarok??) please enlighten me

Have you tried this lil setup that ragnarok mentioned before?

Extract the TrulyEpic Rebirth zip file on your computer, find the directory of where GPSSetup.apk is and copy it to your SDCard then use a rootmanager, and go back to this directory on your phone, and copy/move it to this location from your SD .
If by any chance the TER doesn't have it, unzip the froyo rom and find it there, then follow the intructions.

thanks!!! and no... i didn't even know it was mentioned before. i just read the 4 ways he posted on the OP, so. TER didn't have it. and i dont have a froyo ROM. i would have to download it. you sure it will be there? anything i could do to convince you to share yours?? =D

He posted one but i added the steps for the gps.apk you're looking for, but he just had one similar to this, at page 58 about the MMS.apk and Mail.apk.

About the froyo rom yeah you gotta download it, the link is in one of the main steps of the OP, and im actually at work, so i can't at the moment, if u can't get it and no one else gets it for ya, let me know if you can find it, and i'll see if i can get it from mine.

So I've flashed Rebirth on my and my wife's phone about a week ago, and things are still running great! This was the first flash I've ever done and it couldn't have been more simple to do it. Definitely worth the 15 minutes to figure out.

Yesterday I flashed some add-ons and wanted to provide some feedback in case anyone is on the fence on trying them.

- Browser Stock does indeed fix the "Long press-Save Image" issue.

- Power Button In Call Revert performs well.

- Mini Theme v1.5 takes a bit of a toll on the battery. Had to remove.

- Hulu App. I did an uninstall-updates on my adobe flash app and did flashed the Hulu app. It worked, and I can play videos on Hulu, though a little laggy. The only problem is when I exit out of the app, the audio continues to play. Btw, app and video does not do landscape mode.

This ROM is still the best thing thats happened to my Epic.

You know, I noted too that my battery was tanking FAST as hell today and could not figure our why? In 20min with all my radios off except 3G I lost near 8%. Crazy! I too am using Mini Theme 1.5 (which I love BTW). How did you determine it was the cause and what did you do to remove it?

Maybe Ragnarokx has a different answer to this but I would say you should considering doing some house cleaning on your text messages. I don't find it strange at all 17000+ msgs would cause a system to fail.

Don't take it the wrong way I just don't see the point in saving that many texts especially from almost 5 yrs ago.

I actually didn't restore them through a backup program like Titanium or MyBackup Root - I use SMS+ Backup, which conserves all my texts through Gmail IMAP and then just syncs them back (takes forever too). I've been meaning to clean them up, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Ah well. I'm reverting back to stock DI18 (since based on: Sprint tweets FroYo updating coming to Samsung Epic 4G as soon as possible ? Android and Me) I can't imagine it'll take too long to get official 2.2 (and then eventually Cyanogen!)

Great work on everything though. I'll be keeping a close watch on TER

I would not hold my breath. We have seen this time and time again. Both from Samsung and Sprint.

I believe he just reflashed Mini Theme 1.0 or lite

Isn't the Odin one the actual ROM of Froyo? or did i get this confused lol
Im still new , where is the GPSSetup.apk file directory? sytem/app?
and Im not sure if it would, i just use the GPSStatus to reset and download the GPSdata, but if u still having this issue, I recommend going for Option 4, but i advise, do it while your on Froyo Before you flash ext4 and TER, because when i did it, it completely deleted everything of my phone, it was a mess, but i got the phone back on track, and doesn't seem to be any problems
some people(i dont know how) has had some luck on doing option 4 and not get into the trouble i got into eventhough i followed everything by the letter, not sure if all the trouble happened due to that i did it when i had TER.
and of course, Do backup your stuff!

wow.. I did it on my first Flash to Dk28 and everything went fine x), and this was recent, but you dont need to reflash to get the apk, just unzip it.

lucky you... yea. im guessing you didn't have the .apk?? and i'm very sketchy about using Odin =/. downloading one at the moment. and right now im sure that there is gpssetup.apk on the epic.

Anytime Media Scanner is running your phone will slow down and be unresponsive, that's normal for any stock or custom ROM.



Did you restore any type of backup after flashing the ROM?



When you restored your backup after flashing the ROM it broke the call log mod. This ROM normally displays only calls in the log. Copy this apk file to /system/app to fix.

Hey ragnarokx (or whomever might know). I also updated the log files and have the problem of messages in my call log. I'm still new to this so not sure what you meant. Do you use root explorer to copy that apk file from the zip in that link?

One other quick question. Still have the media hub and DRM files that keep running (i installed the sprint and samsung apps). Will it be okay to delete these files using Sdx without messing anything up? I was going to delete files "DrmUA.akp" & "MediaHubV102_Epic4G.apk"
